Should the battery be buried underground or mounted on the pole? Conventional wisdom suggests burial is safer, but this is often the only choice due to the bulkiness of gel batteries. Burial pits are prone to water accumulation, corroding terminals, and if a fault occurs, it requires costly “digging up” for maintenance.
